So, you're kicking off a new campaign. You've got the spark, the idea, and the content plan.

But the madness doesn’t just begin at ideation and end with perfect execution. It stretches into the realm of analytics, performance reviews, and the ability to pull key takeaways from a mess of metrics.

And that process of getting your ducks in a row? Well, it often feels like a horror show.

You're pulling data from a dozen different posts across Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, then attempting to categorize them by the campaign. Then by post type.

That’s where social media post groups in Measure Studio really make a difference. They turn what used to be a logistical spreadsheet nightmare into a streamlined, dare I say enjoyable, process.

Let's talk about how you can use post groups to actually compare campaign performance across platforms, without losing your mind.

What are post groups in Measure Studio?

Let’s assume you just wrapped a major product launch, you're halfway through a hiring campaign, and you've also got a few evergreen posts running in between.

Some are carousels, while others are Stories, and a few are long-form videos. It’s a lot. How do you make sense of it all without drowning?

Post groups are your savior. Measure Studio lets you categorize and organize posts however makes sense for your team: by campaign, content type, post format, product category, even tone or messaging style.

For example, you can group together all posts from your latest campaign, all your employee advocate content, or even videos that all used a certain CTA.

By clustering similar posts, post groups give you visibility into which kinds of content actually drive performance.

You can spot trends, compare results across platforms, and figure out what’s resonating with your audience without having to piece it all together manually.

How are account groups different from post groups?

But hold on, why do we even need post groups? Can account grouping not solve most of our troubles?

Well... yes and no.

Account Groups are for when you want to zoom out and look at the performance of multiple social media accounts together, say your brand’s Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube channels. It’s perfect for getting a top-level view of how your presence stacks up across platforms.

On the flip side, post groups let you zoom in. They are for organizing individual posts by campaigns, topics, post types, or whatever custom setup makes sense to you. Group specific posts together to see how they performed as a unit, regardless of which platform they were published on.

How to use Measure Studio post groups for side-by-side comparisons?

Did you know that apples-to-oranges reporting can quietly sabotage your entire marketing strategy?

It might seem obvious, but how ridiculous does it sound to compare a boosted Instagram Reel to an organic TikTok, or line up a Q4 promo with a Q1 awareness campaign?

When you aren't comparing like with like, your data becomes misleading. Suddenly, you're investing in content that looks like it's working but actually isn’t, and that kind of irregular comparison can throw your marketing efforts way off course.

You can sort this out with post group comparisons in Measure Studio. They let you line up content categories fairly, clearly, and meaningfully, so your insights are actually worth acting on.

Here’s how to use them the right way:

Step 1: Head to ‘Post Groups’

Click the ‘Post Groups’ tab in the left-hand menu. This is where all your neatly grouped content lives.

Step 2: Select up to 10 groups

Use the checkboxes to choose the post groups you want to compare. For example:

  • “Product Launch Reels” vs. “Feature Teasers”

  • “Behind-the-Scenes TikToks” vs. “Customer Testimonials”

  • “Boosted Posts” vs. “Organic Campaigns”

Dashboard view of "Post Groups" with items like "Ad IDs" and "Campaigns" selected. Creator names, dates, and post counts are visible.

This lets you line up content on a level playing field so your insights actually make sense and don’t lead you to the wrong conclusions.

Step 3: Click ‘Compare’

Hit the ‘Compare’ button and let the graph work its magic. You'll see performances side-by-side across the selected groups.

Step 4: Choose platform, metric, and date range

Graph displaying YouTube views over 28 days for post groups like #SocialMediaMarketing and Archibald's Adventures. Blue line is steady.

At the top left of the graph, select your platform of choice. Then pick the key metric you want to measure; views, watch time, impressions, you name it. Set your date range, and you're all set.

What are post group benchmarks?

Want to know if that new campaign is getting the love it deserves? Or if your engagement spiked after switching up your posting schedule?

Post group benchmark give you the inside scoop on how your account groups are doing over time. If you are running a campaign, compare how it did over the first 7 days versus the final stretch to see if your audience was more engaged during the build-up or last-minute rush.

For a specific post group, you can find its corresponding graphs under the Benchmark section. For instance, let’s say you are testing new content types, in which case you can track the 7-day performance for videos and carousel posts.

How can organic and paid social media teams use this feature?

Whether you are on the organic side crafting community-driven content, or managing paid campaigns to boost reach and conversions, post groups help both teams speak the same language (finally!).

For organic teams, post groups make it easy to track the performance of different content buckets like educational reels, meme posts, or product launches across platforms. You can group these posts together and quickly see what resonates most with your audience.

For paid teams, it’s perfect for analyzing ad creative across multiple campaigns. Create groups based on objectives (awareness, conversion), audience segments, or CTA types. You'll be able to compare which formats or messages are actually driving results.

When both paid and organic teams align post groups by shared goals (like a launch or seasonal push), it becomes way easier to compare paid vs organic performance side by side, spot gaps, and optimize the full funnel.

Wrapping up

At the end of the day, social performance isn’t just about numbers, it’s about patterns, context, and clarity. Post groups help you accomplish this task quickly and efficiently.

They help you zoom out from the “post-by-post panic” and into a bird’s-eye view of what your content is actually doing out in the wild, delivering not just how it performed, but why.

It’s about seeing the bigger picture without losing sight of the little details. And when reporting time rolls around? You're not left scrambling. Instead, you're confident, organized, and three steps ahead.

Whether you're trying to make a case for more budget, testing a bold new format, or proving that carousel posts on Mondays really are performing better, post groups make the storytelling simple.

And hey, if you still have questions, you know where to find us. We're always just a click away.
